Stop Using My Life As Your Crutch

Dear Veterans, I am so tired of my life that I lived and that took so much away from me being used as your crutch. I'm talking to you, admin. I'm talking to you mechanics. I'm talking to you midwifes. Don't get me wrong, we all served. We all put on our uniform and went to work everyday, and for that the entire civilian population should be thankful. Let's all stop pretending that all military service is equal. I know that a few of you getting your free sirloin at Applebee's on the 11th of November are reservists who never left the states. I know that there are those among you posting emotional Memorial Day messages on your Facebook who never stepped foot off of your boat. I am not here to talk about myself or "toot my own horn" so I won't be listing the places I served or the funerals I went to. That's not my intent. My intent is to call out a bunch of those disability claims. I'm looking at the folks who have PTSD from a mortar landing outside of the base where they were cooking chow or processing paperwork. I'm looking at at the headquarters folks who are distraught over processing KIA paperwork and need a service dog because of the difficult time they have had "assimilating" into normal society. I'm using some key words and phrases such as "assimilating into society" because that's the phrases you asshats use when you talk to the VA. Guess who doesn't have a disability rating... The guy who carried that KIA a mile to be evacuated. You were always out of place before the military weren't you? You never fit in when you were in high school but you obviously have an answer for that because it obviously wasn't your fault. You never did great in the military... You always passed your PFT and did just fine on evals, but never got any awards and you were never recognized for going above and beyond. You lead that exact same life now. Never really excelling at anything and never really going beyond what is the minimal expectation. But guess what, now you have an excuse.... You're a veteran now and you're going to use that to it's fullest. Well boss, sorry I didn't meet that deadline, but as you know, I'm a veteran... The rest of us that are leading incredible lives would like you to stop. Those of us that go to work every day and do great things are tired of you using your 4 years turning wrenches as your crutch. Those of us that face skeletons and memories and live each day for our friends who are in the ground would like you to own up to your own inadequacies and stop using the military as a crutch.
